Why I Hate Democrats

The degradation of our political and social structure is not an accident; it is the direct result of a radical ideology that has hijacked the left: “wokeness.” What exactly is wokeness? It is a manufactured philosophy built on the premise that society is rigidly divided into the oppressed and the oppressors. It assumes that marginalized communities have been universally taken advantage of, subjugated, and oppressed, generally for a profit or power motive.

According to this ideology, systemic racism is the singular, indisputable explanation for all societal ills, differences in outcomes, and the educational achievement gap (McWhorter, 2021). Over the years, this designated “marginalized” community has relentlessly expanded—first including females, then racial minorities, and eventually the entire LGBT and transgender spectrum. Somewhere in that expansion, the radical left crossed the line from demanding equal opportunity to demanding forced equity. The underlying concept—that one specific demographic is entirely responsible for the failures and ills of all others—is abhorrent. It entirely absolves marginalized individuals of personal responsibility, grit, or agency.

To enforce this worldview, the left uses incredibly powerful weapons, the most effective being the accusation of racism itself. It is designed to immediately shut down discussion and eliminate debate (Lukianoff & Haidt, 2018). This is the danger of the woke mindset: it is entirely closed. To the radical left, anyone who doubts their narrative is not just factually wrong; they are morally evil. They weaponize guilt while ignoring their own staggering hypocrisy, claiming to be the party of tolerance while brutally enforcing ideological purity.

The Power of Cancel Culture
The whole “cancel culture” movement is an exercise in power while disguising itself as a demand for equality. The truth is that wokeness and cancel culture are themselves tools to acquire and wield power—political, academic, financial, and social. The left has found a powerful weapon and is using it for political gain, with a thin veneer of helping the marginalized.

But when you strip away that veneer, you expose a serious political and social rot. The left’s obsession with these radical ideologies is actively making things worse in America. Whenever anyone points out that their policies have not actually helped the marginalized communities they claim to champion, they weaponize guilt, deflect blame, and cancel their critics. You can see the devastating consequences of this social and political dysfunction most clearly in our public education system.

The Collapse of the Classroom and the “Equity” Illusion
One of my major problems with the left is that they have destroyed education in the name of equity. They refuse to acknowledge an obvious, scientifically supported truth: differences in innate cognitive ability and IQ are real, and they are directly tied to success in life across many domains (Gottfredson, 1997; Plomin, 2018). When faced with undeniable demographic gaps in educational achievement, the left panics. Instead of accepting that different populations have different baseline abilities or behavioral cultures, woke philosophy dictates that any demographic disparity is de facto evidence of systemic racism. They reject the science and research that shows ability matters, replacing it with vaguely defined, unsolvable cultural grievances. This is truly anti-science while claiming to be pro-science.

Because the left cannot artificially engineer higher ability for those at the bottom, their only solution for achieving “equity” is to lower the ceiling for everyone else. Over my 35 years in the classroom, teaching high school science and community college technology courses, I have watched this play out as a relentless, year-by-year cycle of dumbing down the curriculum to accommodate those of lower ability.

To mask demographic differences on paper, administrators systematically dismantle honors and gifted programs, claiming they are “inequitable.” They delay advanced math. They impose minimum grading floors so that failing students appear to be passing (Buck, 2022). This creates a system that penalizes high-achieving students by starving them of rigor, while simultaneously lying to lower-ability students by handing them unearned grades. The entire educational system is degraded to cater to the lowest common denominator.

In fact, we know how to actually solve the educational achievement gap without destroying standards. Thomas Sowell has been describing how for years. He provides concrete evidence that strict discipline, high expectations, and rigorous direct instruction produce phenomenal success in charter schools that refuse to lower the bar (Sowell, 2020). But his voice falls on deaf ears because it contradicts the left’s political narrative.

The Downstream Reality
The culture of woke has inundated our schools, and when faced with declining educational performance that is direct evidence of their failure, they double down on content-free pedagogy. As a small business owner who hires these graduates, I see firsthand the devastating effect this has on our economy and society in general. We are churning out a workforce lacking fundamental capability, ignorance governs our beliefs, and the left denies all culpability.

There are radical elements within the Democratic party, and those elements are driving a larger and larger wedge not just between Democrats and Republicans, but between moderate Democrats and the extreme left (Judis & Teixeira, 2023). The left is not innocent; their social and political ideologies are having a direct, negative, and undeniable impact on the structure of our nation. This is truly disgusting, and it is a valid reason to abhor the left.
